Sports Medicine Review is a website dedicated to all things sports medicine. Our goal is to help generate a community that fosters original ideas and content for medical students, residents, fellows and attendings and other providers interested in or involved in sports medicine.
Our goals include:
- Cultivate community generated content to promote academic sports medicine, research and best practices.
- Share a comprehensive list of all the fellowship programs in the United States sortable by specialty.
- A comprehensive list of sports medicine and orthopedic books relevant to practice, quickly available to clinicians and made available to easily purchase online.
- A comprehensive question bank designed to prepare new graduates for the certificate of added qualification (CAQ-SM) in sports medicine and recertification for attending physicians
- Resources for medical students interested in sports medicine, residents interested in applying to sports medicine, fellows beginning their training, and attending physicians currently in practice

About Us

John Kiel DO, MPH, CAQ-SM
- Co-Founder
Dr. Kiel completed his Bachelor of the Arts in Psychology at the University of Maine, Masters in Public Health at Emory University Rollins School of Public Health and Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine at University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, NY and a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. He currently practices both Emergency Medicine and Sports Medicine for the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, FL. His clinical interests include the intersection of emergency medicine and sports medicine, MSK Ultrasound, orthopedic trauma and resident education. Personal passions include crossfit, cycling and spending time with his family and dog’s Remmy and Huey. He is also a major in the Florida Army National Guard.
Andrew Schleihauf, DO, CAQ-SM

Dr. Schleihauf completed his Bachelor of Science Degree at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA where he served as team captain for the football and baseball team. He completed his medical school training at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine at Seton Hill University followed by family medicine residency at Excela Health Family Medicine Residency in Latrobe, PA. His primary care sports medicine fellowship was completed at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. He currently practices sports medicine for Excela Health in Mt. Pleasant, PA. His clinical interests include concussion management and nutrition. Personal interests include recreational hockey, olympic weightlifting, powerlifting and spending time with his family.


Gregory Rubin, DO, CAQ-SM

Dr. Rubin completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL and went on to medical school at Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He then completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut in Farmington, CT and went on to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. He is a primary care sports medicine physician at Naples Community Hospital. His clinical interests are in preventive health and using his sports medicine knowledge in keeping his patients active. Personal interests include playing with his children and all things Florida Gators!
